Hello I'm Rick Majumdar
I am labor organizer/activist and a member of the Teamsters local 767, I was previously a student and organizer with the Progressive Student Union at the University of Texas at Arlington where I received my master's degree in Aerospace engineering. I was also a member of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression-Dallas from 2020 till 2021 and helped fight against police brutality, primarily during the George Floyd Rebellion.
I've been a part of the DFW organizing community for over 6 years and have made many many friends in the community. But commitment to the cause comes at great financial risk.
I am personally going through a financial crisis and have zero money to pay for my rent, utilities, expenses, groceries, etc.
On the night of the 27th April, I was arrested with my labor comrade from the Tarrant County AFL CIO Angela DeFelippo, and we were held at Lew Sterett jail house.
Seven cops ran up on me and used force, while double hand cuffing me. I am still recovering from the experience in jail, and might have some long term health issues because of this.
I was in jail between 6 pm - 1:30 am in the morning and the DFW organizing community and friends across the country helped me and Angela get out swiftly and I'm very thankful to have them as friends.
Having missed work several days for organizing purposes and health and mental well being and personal life reasons have put me in a dire position.
I have two jobs and just recently I got laid off from my second job
Funds at this moment is critical, and pending any future medical or immigration/legal concern, support would be highly appreciated.
