Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

My name is Rick Law, and I am reaching out today with a heavy heart and a deep sense of gratitude for any help you can offer. At 69 years old, I’ve lived in Pasadena for over 60 years, and I spent the better part of my life working in public service as a police officer, ultimately retiring as a commander after 32 years with the Pasadena Police Department. I moved to Altadena in 2007, hoping to enjoy our later years in peace and safety.

I had no time to gather anything—only the clothes on my back. I barely made it out as embers were already flying into my car. The fire had spread so quickly that there was no time for an evacuation notice or any sort of help. By the time I realized the danger, the fire was already at my doorstep. I fled, just in time to escape with my life, but everything else was gone. My home, my belongings, and my memories—all reduced to ashes.

When I think about everything lost—it’s not just things. It’s memories. It’s the life I built, and it’s the peace I thought I’d have in my later years. But I also know that things can be replaced. Lives can’t. God is good. God saved my life. My family, my friends, and I are all so thankful!!

Now, I am left with the uncertainty and the emotional toll it takes to start over from scratch. I’m reaching out to you, humbly, to ask for any help you can provide. Whether it's a small contribution or simply sharing this message, every bit of support means the world to us right now.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m determined to move forward with the community. Life may not always go as planned, but as long as we’re together and supported by kind-hearted people like you, I know I’ll make it through.
