Most of you know Rick Kozlowski as the author of "Jus' Bekoz" in the local newspaper The Journal, but some of us know him as the fun-loving goofball who is addicted to sports, loves a good meal, and is known for a good "dad joke".  Rick went to the hospital on Sunday due to a concerning medical issue and it was discovered that he had a mass in his colon. He has already underwent a colonoscopy and will undergo surgery on Friday 6/25. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

In addition to those, the family is asking for monetary donations on his behalf. Rick and his wife Kathy, married for over 30 years, are far too humble to ask themselves, therefore his family is asking upon his behalf. 

As many know, Rick has been a dedicated journalist and sports writer for The Journal in Martinsburg, WV for over 30 years. His wife is a Patient Care Technician at WVU Medicine and has been for over 20 years. They are both extremely hard workers with excellent work ethics and are facing a lot of unknown at this time. At this point, they will both exhaust any PTO/Sick time they have very quickly due to this diagnosis. While we know they have some savings, we are trying to prevent them from depleting what they have paying medical bills, travel costs, and possibly having to take unpaid leave from work. 

If you are able, his family would greatly appreciate any and all donations to contribute to his treatment and recovery. We are hopeful that he will make a quick recovery after his surgery and that the rest of his treatment will go as smoothly as possible.
