Rick and Jenni are facing the kind of battle no family ever expects, both are currently undergoing treatment for advanced cancers at the same time. Rick has recently begun treatment for advanced liver cancer. He is receiving dual immunotherapy aimed at shrinking the tumors, and he will also be working closely with a liver specialist to help maintain and support his liver function throughout treatment. His oncologist has shared encouraging outcomes, noting that several patients have responded very well to this course of care. True to who he is, Rick remains in good spirits, still cracking jokes, even about being part of a “couples treatment plan” . However, the reality is that treatment has taken a toll. He is unable to work and now spends most of his days resting and conserving energy. At the same time, Jenni is fighting her own battle. She is undergoing immunotherapy and Gamma Knife treatment for metastatic kidney cancer that has spread to her brain. Her strength and resilience continue to carry her through each step of this difficult journey. While they have been fortunate to receive a grant that helps cover Rick’s immunotherapy, many financial challenges remain. With Rick unable to work and disability benefits taking an estimated 6–9 months to process, the immediate concern is covering everyday living expenses, mortgage, utilities, groceries, as well as ongoing insurance premiums and medical co-pays. This is a family doing everything they can to stay strong, hopeful, and focused on healing, but they cannot do it alone. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing their story, will help ease the financial burden and allow Rick and Jenni to focus on what matters most: fighting their battles together and holding onto hope for better days ahead.
