Dear Friends,

My name is Bre.W, and for those of you who know me, I’ve always had a soft spot for animals. Since moving to Utah, I've become quite the cat lady. About a year ago, a stray cat appeared at my rental property, seeking love and affection. We quickly discovered she was pregnant, and soon after, she gave birth to six beautiful kittens. Every kitten found a loving home—except for one, Mr. Rick Grimes (yes, named after The Walking Dead!). From the moment he was born, Rick has held a special place in my heart, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced his love and companionship.

Unfortunately, our journey has taken a difficult turn. When Rick was still a kitten, he had a minor seizure, which we initially didn’t think much of. However, on Super Bowl Sunday, Rick had three seizures within six hours. My cousin, a former vet tech, made the decision to take him to the emergency clinic, where they started him on medication for epilepsy. The clinic also advised seeing his primary vet for a proper diagnosis. During this time, I was out of the country in Colombia, and it was a heartbreaking experience to be away while Rick was struggling.

Upon my return, we slowly reduced his medication to see if his condition improved. Unfortunately, Rick had another seizure, prompting us to take him back to the vet. We were referred to a specialist in Las Vegas, where Rick will need to undergo a brain scan to determine if he is suffering from epilepsy or if there is a more serious underlying condition, such as a brain tumor.

As of today, April 4, 2025, Rick experienced another seizure, lasting about 20 seconds. He has been on his medication twice daily, but the fear and uncertainty surrounding his health continue to weigh heavily on me. The cost of the procedure to diagnose and treat Rick is approximately $5,500, which is a significant financial burden. So far, I’ve spent around $600 on emergency visits, medication, and travel expenses. I’ve tried to explore every option, but the reality is that I need help to give Rick the care he deserves.

I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for financial assistance, but here we are. If you’re able to contribute in any way, it would mean the world to me. I’ve set a goal to get Rick the necessary treatment before the end of this year, as the sooner he gets the care he needs, the better his chances are of living a long and healthy life.
