For years, Rick Gates has dedicated his life to shaping young minds and is an incredible man with a servant's heart. Mr. Gates goes above and beyond his duties as a teacher. He volunteers to be at school every morning to greet Copper Ridge students as they arrive on campus, he cheers on his students at their extracurricular activities outside of school, he makes sure to "go big" in the classroom every day to bring a smile to his students’ faces, but most importantly, he supports and deeply cares about his students the year he teaches them and beyond. His love and dedication to teaching and to each of his students are truly inspiring. Mr. Gates has touched so many lives and families over the years, and has always put others first.

Now, it’s our turn to give back.

On August 3rd, Rick received the life-changing news that he has a brain tumor and would need surgery just four days later. The road ahead will include surgical and physical recovery, other treatments, and many additional tests and medical appointments. While Rick and his family face this challenge with incredible strength, grace, and positivity, the reality is that medical expenses and time away from work create a significant challenge. We hope to raise funds to help the Gates family focus on his recovery and gaining strength to return to his classroom (he is determined)!

This fundraiser will help cover:

• Medical bills not covered by insurance

• Essential living expenses during recovery

• Any unforeseen needs as Mr. Gates focuses on healing

Rick has touched countless lives through his compassion, dedication, and unwavering belief in the potential of every student. He has also lifted up a myriad of people in his pastoral work over the years. Let’s rally around him the same way he’s always shown up for others.
