Support Rich's Journey to Mental Health Recovery

This fundraiser is to support Rich during a time when he has provided so much support to his community in and around Asheville. This endeavor starts with the application to enter into the Stanford University advanced intensive TMS study to treat treatment-resistant major depression. After months of many hours-long interviews and lots of documents and forms, the acceptance into the trial came. The trial was supposed to start October 6th, involving a 2-week stay in Palo Alto, California, all on the personal dime for travel, lodging, and anything else one needs for a trip out of state.

With the arrival of Hurricane Helene and all businesses in Asheville being closed, shuttered, or destroyed from the flooding, Rich was not able to make enough money to follow through with the trip and instead chose to stay in Asheville and start the work that needed to be done immediately before ultimately rejoining All Hands and Hearts disaster relief nonprofit. Since then, the days have been long and excruciating, just like the road to recovery will continue to be for the WNC communities affected and destroyed by the storm. Rich is once again trying to make this trip out to Stanford University to attempt mental health treatment for the sake of his own health. The largest obstacle currently is being able to afford lodging and transportation close to Stanford for two weeks while also continuing to pay for all of the typical costs and expenses with life in Asheville. Any offering is immensely appreciated and directly supports someone who is setting their life aside to support western North Carolina. Also, any amount of donations that are not used will be donated directly to All Hands and Hearts Hurricane Helene relief.
