Support Richmond Chess Club's 10-Year Journey

This October marks the TEN YEAR anniversary of our club. We’ve come from a few once a week Game Nights at Gallery 5, to a 3 times a week + Backyard Tournaments, First Fridays, free beginner classes, and now a biweekly rated ladder on top of our monthly Gallery 5 game night. Along the way, we’ve gained a thousand followers on Instagram and 500 hooligans on Discord. Biggest of all, we’ve secured our 501c3 non profit status, a goal we’ve had for many years. Huge thank you to the law firm of Trautman Pepper for guiding us very gracefully through the whole process. With our non profit status, our ultimate dream of opening a store front chess/coffee shop is actually starting to become something we can work towards (If you know ANYTHING about applying for grants, please reach out!)

Through the month of October, we will be fundraising in efforts to actually pay our coaches, tournament directors, photographers, and now grant writers. This will also fund us buying boards and clocks, stickers and tshirts as well.

All our coaching and directing has been done out of pure love up to this point, so if you can afford to throw us a bone we’ll be forever grateful. In the future, with your support and hopefully a healthy amount of grants, we could be on our way to having a real chess space here in Richmond!
