Still Healing,
Still Grateful,
Still in Need,
Hello everyone,
I don’t even
know how to
begin to
thank those
of you who
have
supported me
on this
journey.
Your generosity,
encouragement,
and kindness
have meant the
world to me.
Knowing I’m not
facing this alone
has given me so
much strength -
more than you
know.
A couple of
weeks ago I
finished my
cancer
treatment,
which was a
major milestone.
I’m incredibly
grateful to have
made it through,
but I won’t know
the full results
until I go in for a
follow up MRI
and CT scan in
June. In the
meantime, I’m
continuing to
deal with a
number of
health
challenges -
especially
shortness of
breath and extreme
fatigue which I
believe may be
tied to the emphysema
that showed up
on my initial scans.
I have an appointment
with a pulmonary
specialist tomorrow,
and I am hoping
that will give me
more clarity.
Right now , I’m
doing my best
to rebuild my
strength. I’ve
been trying to
walk every day
and push
myself a little
more, and while
there has been
some progress,
I’m still far from
being able to
return to an
eight hour work
day.
Although I have
received some
help with rent
and utilities,
that assistance
has now run out -and with those
bills coming due
again,I’m facing
a lot of financial
pressure while
I’m still unable
to work, if you’re
in a position to
help, even a
little, it would
make a big
difference in
helping me stay
afloat as I focus
on healing.
To those who
have already
given: thank you
from the bottom
of my heart.
Your support
has helped
carry me
through one of
the hardest times of my life.
I’m not giving up -
but I still have a
ways to go.
Your kindness
reminds me
every day that I
am not alone in
this fight.
With love and
gratitude,
Richie Cook
