On January 19th, Richard Bussey, a proud member of the Class of ’82, underwent a quadruple bypass after suffering an unknown heart attack in November. The night before his surgery, Richard coded, and things seemed to go downhill for a while after that. He endured ICU stays, hospital transfers, another coding event, and many other life-saving treatments. As the process continues, you can only imagine how the medical costs are racking up enormously.

Those who know Richard know he is a very proud and private man, not used to being on the receiving side of things. Always a giver, he goes out of his way to contact many of us to make us smile and feel special. In business, he is always the one to run toward national disasters all over the world to help rebuild communities. He also posts when bad or dangerous storms are headed in the direction of friends and loved ones. Richard works his goat farm with his beautiful wife Carol and probably does secret squirrel stuff too! I don’t think he has ever met someone who didn’t turn into a friend.

The money raised will be deposited into Richard and Carol’s personal account to help offset some of the medical costs they continue to accumulate. Prayer is what got Richard to the point of being able to make us laugh again through this picture and his incredible learning of sign language! Even though the road may be long, it’s a lot shorter than when this journey began. Please continue prayers, and any monetary help will be appreciated.
