Help Richard Rebuild His Life After a Devastating Fire
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jacob, and I'm the café manager at Giorla's Coffee Roaster. I'm writing this from the heart, on behalf of someone who means a great deal to me, and to so many others, Richard Giorla.
On July 26, 2025, Richard's home was destroyed in a sudden, accidental fire. Within moments, everything he owned was gone: his clothes, his furniture, his personal keepsakes, and the items that held a lifetime of memories.
It's the kind of loss that's hard to put into words.
Miraculously, no one was hurt. His beloved dog, Rocco, managed to escape through the doggie door, covered in soot but alive. That alone is something we are all holding onto with so much gratitude. Richard said, through tears, that as long as Rocco is safe, he feels like he's already been given a gift.
If you know Richard, even just a little, you know how much love and heart he pours into everything he does. Whether he's serving coffee or offering someone a kind word, he shows up for people. He builds spaces where strangers feel like family. He's not just the soul of our café, he's the soul of our community.
Richard would never ask for help himself, but I'm asking on his behalf. Right now, he's staying in a hotel with just a few items of clothing, trying to figure out what comes next.
He's not asking for much: just the basics to get back on his feet. A bed. A change of clothes. A sense of home.
If you're able to contribute anything, no matter how small, it will go directly toward helping Richard rebuild his life.
And if donating isn't possible, simply sharing this message with others would mean so much.
Let's show Richard that the same love and support he's always shown to others is here for him too-when it matters most.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping someone who would never ask, but who truly deserves it.
With all my heart,
Jacob
