Support Rich Simpson's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
I am asking for you to support my fundraiser for Rich Simpson. Rich is a really great guy who has been unable to work for the last few months due to debilitating pain caused by a severely herniated disk bulging into his sciatic nerve, and is scheduled for spinal surgery later this month.
Rich needs about $1,500 for rent and bills to get him through this crisis.
Rich is a longtime activist who did important work on the California medical marijuana initiative as a student journalist and activist. He later worked for the late Tod Mikuriya M.D. at his cannabis based medical practice, helping to ease the pain and suffering of seriously ill patients.
You may know Rich as the sound guy from the former Black Box Theater, or People's Park events or various other technical roles in local music and stage productions, usually volunteering his time for free.
Rich is a photographer, mechanic, handyman, general fixer of things, and an electrical and electronics genius.
He has had his hands behind the scenes making magic happen in the Bay Area with his technical wizardry fixing, building, and creating since the 1990s.
He enjoys working on fixing up his old sailboat at the Berkeley Marina, and being a part of the boating community, where he shares his knowledge and skills whenever he can. He is always accompanied by his buddy HR Flufnstuf, a very outgoing and adorable shih tzu.
Rich is always quick to help out a friend or neighbor. On more than one occasion I have seen Rich drop what he was doing, to repair someone's work laptop, or replace the brakes on a friend's car.
Now it's our turn to give him a little help to get through this tough time!
