Support Rich Hutchings' Battle with Brain Cancer

My name is Mary Sanford, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my little brother, Rich Hutchings. Monday afternoon, he went to the walk-in for mobility issues with his left arm, and by bedtime, he was admitted to Wilson ICU. Today, he was diagnosed with brain cancer—multi-focal glioblastoma with four satellite lesions. Friday morning, he will have surgery, then has months of chemotherapy and radiation. Have you ever eaten dinner at Nina’s in Norwich? Since he was the head cook there for 20 plus years, chances are he made your meal. More recently, he ran Roma’s in Sidney. Rich has always been that guy who’d give you the shirt off his back—no questions asked, give you a ride, buy you a cup of coffee, whatever—because he’s been there. Rich is a proud man, a fiercely loyal dad, Papa, and brother, and he’d never ask for anyone’s help. I’m asking—he has lost his dream—a restaurant of his own—and now he’s facing months of being unable to work or even take care of himself without help from others.
