Support Julian and Ric's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Just one year after Ric bravely faced stage 1 breast cancer, enduring a lumpectomy and radiation, her husband, Julian—a Reconnaissance Marine, medic, and private contractor protecting the American Ambassador to Iraq—was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer. After a seizure on July 28, 2025, while serving in Baghdad, Julian was medically evacuated to the U.S. on August 4 and faces a prognosis of 15 months to 5 years with radiation and chemotherapy starting September 17, 2025.

Something you may not know is that Ric managed her cancer diagnosis alone while Julian remained in Baghdad, working to retain medical coverage for her treatment. She has proven to be a woman of deep strength, resilience, and faith in God. Now, Julian’s glioblastoma diagnosis is too much for them to bear financially. With Julian unable to work, their medical coverage will expire in December 2025, leaving Ric’s critical, exorbitantly expensive cancer medications, quarterly oncology visits, bi-annual mammograms, and yearly MRIs uncovered. Fortunately, Julian’s veteran benefits will cover most of his medical bills, but they need help with his glioblastoma clinical trials starting as soon as next week in San Diego, CA.

Ric has been limited to one workday a week as a PACU/recovery nurse due to her ongoing cancer recovery but now must seek full-time work to afford her medications while caring for her best friend (any hiring connections or job leads would be appreciated). Julian’s illness and year-long driving restriction due to seizures add transportation costs to their burden of lost income and medical expenses. No one should have to choose between caring for their spouse and working to afford healthcare coverage.

Julian, a Marine veteran and medic, and Ric, a critical care nurse, have dedicated their lives to helping others; now it’s time to give back to them. We urgently need your help to cover Julian’s transportation costs, glioblastoma clinical trials, Ric’s breast cancer medications, lost income, and expiring medical coverage. Their dream Paris trip in March 2026 to celebrate a decade of love, Ric’s 50th, and Julian’s 40th birthday was canceled, but our combined generosity may afford them this magical celebration in late 2026 or early 2027. Let’s help them believe God for that gift (anyone want to donate airline miles, or a lovely Paris hotel stay?)!

Please pray diligently and send well-wishes for Julian and Ric. If able, consider a generous financial gift to let Ric focus on Julian while seeking full-time work to provide her medical coverage. If you can’t give now, please share this campaign with friends and family who may be moved by their story. Your prayers, kind words, shares, or donations show they’re not alone. Let’s rally now so they can celebrate in Paris soon!

May God help to find Ric the perfect nursing position, bless Julian’s brain cancer journey, and may he outlive his prognosis for many years to come! Can I get a YES and AMEN!?!

God bless you all,
Arwen Becker (Ric’s crazy 29029 Everesting hiking pal!)
