Help Rhys & Jules with Bike Repair & Moving Costs

On Tuesday, October 1st Rhys was riding home on their bike and was hit by a car less than a block from our apartment. They’re (mostly) doing ok, except for two broken fingers, a series of stitches, and an assortment of bruises. They did not hit their head and thankfully aren’t seriously injured. However, their bike was severely damaged and will require about $500 worth of repairs. We haven’t gotten the info from the crash report yet, so there’s no telling what (if anything) the driver’s insurance will cover. There’s no good time to get hit by a car, but this is an especially challenging time because we just closed on a house, and are planning to move into our new home on October 30th. We have had many people offer to help us in terms of moving, but between Rhys’s hand injury and Jules’s connective tissue disorder (recently diagnosed Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) we’re definitely going to need some professional help with the move. Between hiring movers and renting a truck, we estimate moving costs to be about another $500. We’re asking for $1000 to help with bike repairs and moving costs, and anything you can offer is extremely helpful!
