Hello there! My name is Rhyley Pruitt, and I am a Documentary student at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. This year, I will be directing, shooting, and editing a documentary thesis film that is very close to my heart with my lovely producer, Riley Komarow, who is a senior Creative Producing student.

This film is about my grandfather and his life story. Once a doctor, teacher, activist, author, son and father, my grandfather will confront his memories, turning his experiences into a lifelong search for meaning and legacy while overcoming an imperfect familial relationship. Family can be complicated, but at the end of the day, it’s really all that matters. You can relate to this film if you’ve had troubled relationships with loved ones and overcome it. In this film, you can expect to find themes of generational healing, change, resilience, legacy, and finding what is truly important in life.

As Riley and I both near graduation this coming spring, we are hoping to gain financial support for this film! Our goal is to raise $2,500 to assist with our travel expenses and post-production costs in order to have this story reach its fullest potential. Regardless, we are so grateful for all of your support, no matter the amount. Each dollar will help us create a film we can all be proud of!
