Support Rhumb Lines Creator in Long COVID Battle

Donation protected
My mother, Hillary Tittle, has been battling one of the most extreme cases of long COVID the medical community has seen since its onset in January of 2022, after contracting the a nearly deadly case of the virus in January of 2020.

As the creator of Rhumb Lines Restaurant, she has not been able to be on-site almost at all since this. I have been running the restaurant with her helping as much as possible from bed.

[redacted] embezzled funds from [redacted] and disappeared (leaving us in financial dire straits that we are slowly but surely chipping away at, after years of [redacted]), along with almost all of our paperwork, and we have been working tirelessly to keep the business afloat. I have been working onsite and my mom has been working from home as much as she can, but the fatigue and brainfog that long COVID causes has made even working from bed nearly untenable.

Despite this, she’s managed to recreate Rhumb Lines on the East End in this time period to be better than ever, a true home. She wanted to create a place that maintained the ethos of old-St. John, and she’s done it through this ailment. She also managed to make Rhumb Lines the only restaurant anyone has ever heard of without COVID being contracted on the premises, because she was deeply committed to protecting her community. Yet, the COVID case she contracted in January of 2020 has left her crippled.

Her condition has just gotten worse, and her ability to get adequate treatment is hindered by simply not having the financial wherewithal.

She has finally been able to get appointments with a rheumatologist, and is moving forward with care, but there are a lot of expenses that our insurance won’t cover with this. We are also trying to afford a home healthcare worker, at least for some period of time, as I am not able to do all I really need to do to care for myself, her, and the restaurant the way that is truly necessary, especially since I am a woman with autism.

Our situation is also growing worse with closures due to my having Dengue fever for a week and not being able to open without me, and hundreds of cancelations due to people not traveling here where WAPA (our electrical company) is wildly dysfunctional and is regularly leaving the island without power.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. We are really struggling. The goal is based on what her doctors estimate to be the cost she’s going to have to pay out of pocket for all this care.

With much gratitude for anything you can spare, no amount is too small.

Warm regards,
Siena
