In November 2024, my wife Rhonda was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor, setting off a series of medical challenges that have changed our lives. She underwent brain surgery in April, but during the procedure, she suffered a stroke and spent several days in the ICU and hospital. While recovering, doctors discovered a significant hole in her heart that will require surgery later this year. After 26 days in an acute rehabilitation center, Rhonda came home in June and continues to work hard in therapy while preparing for radiation treatment and her upcoming heart surgery.

The financial impact has been overwhelming, even with insurance. We’ve had to make major modifications to our home, including adding a ramp, converting to a walk-in shower, installing a stair lift, and purchasing medical equipment and a new vehicle to help Rhonda get around. I’ve been by her side as her primary helper, taking leave from work to support her daily needs. As I return to work, the costs continue to rise with ongoing therapy, the upcoming radiation treatments that will require us to stay near the hospital for several weeks, and the uncertainty of future medical bills.

Rhonda is a strong, independent woman who has always followed her passions. She opened our game store 22 years ago, started her own travel agency, and has been a leader in the game industry, building community and supporting others. The outpouring of love and encouragement from friends and the community has meant the world to us.
