Memorial Day and Cancer Fireworks Show

Hello, my name is Jeff Gensur.

Just after Christmas of 2019 my mother, Rhonda Gensur, was diagnosed with a Stage 4 cancer throughout her abdomen. Rhonda was initially prognosed with less than a year to live. After extensive treatments and intense surgery, Rhonda was declared cancer-free 12 months after the surgery. Unfortunately, Rhonda would further endure much pain caused by a blockage and 3 emergency trips to the hospital in a short time frame afterwards. Testing was performed, ultimately revealing the necessity of a colon resection. This also would be Rhonda’s second cancer removal surgery, performed in 2022. Rhonda did respond well during surgery, however, has not been able to readjust her body very well since. Rhonda received adverse testing results sometime after this and cancer on her ovaries was discovered. A third cancer removal surgery occurred, and 2 months later new cancer was found within her bladder. A fourth cancer removal surgery was performed in Fall of 2024, and a 5th and fatal diagnosis was delivered in November of 2024. Rhonda unfortunately succumbed to her long battle she so graciously fought on January 20th, 2025.

To honor, remember and celebrate all our Veterans, Victims of Sickness and Rhonda’s life I wish to perform a Memorial Day Fireworks Show on May 24, 2025. I am a licensed fireworks operator, and this show will be performed at the Cleveland Skydiving Center, located at 15199 Grove Rd in Garrettsville, OH 44231. This show will incorporate a Memorial Day Celebration Event for Rhonda’s family, the local community, public and business. It is with my intentions to deliver a one-of-a-kind show that will leave every person breathless and with lifelong memories. This will be a professional show using commercial grade fireworks, all complete with permitting and law enforcement. As of 10/24/24, I have obtained verbal permission from the Fire Department and as soon as a permit is formally obtained, I will provide an update.

As is necessary with any large project, outside help with funding will be required else this show cannot occur. I have already donated just over $3,000 and am asking for donations to support the purchase of fireworks for this event. I am attempting to raise $20,000 for this event, which all will be used exclusively to purchase fireworks. Any donations received exceeding this amount will be donated to a cancer charity chosen by Rhonda’s family. Many people have seen my fireworks shows in person and will attest they are not to be missed. Below are a few pictures from my last personal show.
