On Friday, August 8, 2025, our beloved Richard Pelham passed away at the age of 75 after a long and courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure and lung cancer.

Richard was more than a husband, father, and grandfather—he was our spiritual anchor, our best friend, and the devoted caregiver to his wife of 48 years, Rhonda Pelham.

He was also a faithful servant of Jesus, sharing the good news with everyone he met. His life was a quiet testimony of love, humility, and unwavering faith.

Rhonda suffered a disabling stroke in 1993 that left her without the use of her right side and with significant speech impairment. Richard lovingly cared for her every day since, despite their limited income and the many hardships they faced.

Now, with Richard’s passing, Rhonda is left without her partner, her caregiver, and her primary source of support.

Richard’s quiet strength and unwavering love shaped our family. He taught us how to serve, how to endure, and how to love without limits.

Rhonda has endured unimaginable loss throughout her life. Her first husband, Calvin Fjarli, passed away while she was pregnant with their daughter, Holly. She met Richard a year later, and together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and resilience.

In recent years, Rhonda tragically lost her daughter Holly (2022) and her son-in-law Chris Wells (2018). Despite these heartbreaks, Richard and Rhonda remained each other’s strength. His passing leaves a profound void in our family.

• Transition costs as I take on full-time caregiving and work to secure housing so Rhonda can live with me safely and comfortably
