You may know Rey, if you do you already know of his kindness, willingness to help, his love of baking and strange sense of humor. However, not all who come to this GoFundMe will know him and to those of you, let me give a small introduction.

Rey is a proud man who has worked the same job for over a decade. He prefers to ride a bike to work and back not only because of the cost but because of the environmental impact as well. When he was approached to work inside of the bakery at the grocery store he works at he gladly accepted the responsibility.

On October 25th, six days before his favorite holiday, Rey was hit by a truck on his way home after a work in a hit and run. The criminal responsible is still at large leaving Rey with a mangled mess of a bike, a broken leg and more medical bills than he can afford to pay.

He was approved for short term disability, which will leave him at a reduced rate of pay. When he receives those payments it will only pay for his rent and leave barely enough left over for food and nowhere near enough to cover the medical debt incurred by such a traumatic event. Everyday more bills come in than he is ready for or can afford. He soon expects his savings to be drained by this event.

I made this GoFundMe for Rey, despite his protests, because I feel the need to return the favor he paid me many months ago. He fed me when I was unable to feed myself and I've never forgotten that. I may not be able to financially take care of all of his bills, but maybe we can help him together.
