My brother in law Rex Madalena was in a motorcycle accident on the morning of July 31st. He was on main street in Layton, had just left his house to go get his DOT medical certificate updated because he has a CDL and drives for Associated Foods. He didn’t make it to update that DOT medical certificate, due to a car not seeing him as the car pulled out of one side of the road to go straight across to the other side.

My brother in law riding the motorcycle tried to apply the brakes and possibly avoid the collision. That was not possible though. He was unconscious at the scene, and transported to Davis Holy Cross Hospital then life flighted to U of U from there. My sister Teisha Wright, has been by his side the entire time. He sustained severe injuries multiple broken ribs, they were able to plate 8 of them. Punctured lungs, damage to his aorta, injuries to both kidneys, internal bleeding, road rash, and more injuries which has affected him greatly. The most severe was his spine. A complete severed spine which has left him paralyzed from under his nipples down. He’s currently in recovery and it’s going to be a long road for him and my sister. She currently commutes daily to the U of U rehab center to Layton where they live to get her children to school drives back there to be with him and to learn and watch the progress to leave again to get her kids from school to home makes a quick dinner takes care of things, washes laundry, etc., and goes back and stays at night. Neither one of them are able to work right now due to this and so any funds and donation would be helpful as they have bills to take care of. He also has 4 other kids younger then 18 that he needs to help support. Anything helps even if it’s just prayers and positive thoughts and sharing this. Thank you
