On Saturday, November 29, 2025, my Dad, Rex Hyrns Sr, was doing what he loved to do, preparing for the upcoming snowmobile season. He was working on one of the trail grooming machines when he had an accident that tragically took his life.

My Dad has been involved in snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula since the early 70’s. His love for snowmobiling led him to become a vital part of the snowmobile community. He dedicated his time to volunteering for the local snowmobile club, the Chippewa Snowchasers (a 501©(3) a non-profit organization), beginning in 2012. He has been the president of the club since 2014. In addition to the many hours that he dedicated to his own club, he was always willing and ready to help the other clubs around the area, and became the go-to person in the area for his knowledge and experience. He wasn’t just a rider and was never afraid to speak his mind for the betterment of the snowmobile community, and to all who benefit from what the snowmobile club does for the area. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of riding snowmobiles or ORVs in the area, you have seen his hard work and dedication first hand.

His dream was to build an additional barn to house the grooming machines that currently sit outside in the elements. This plan had been in the works prior to his untimely passing, and we would like to continue that dream in his memory. The donations raised from this Go Fund Me campaign will all go toward this project. We are so appreciative of any support to make his dream become a reality.
