Hello everyone. My name is Boris and this is my best friend, Reuben. He is a beautiful 3 month Chesapeake Bay Retriever that I’ve had the privilege to own since he was 6 weeks old. A few days ago, after a series of increasingly alarming symptoms, he was hospitalized with acute kidney and liver injury. He has tested positive for leptospirosis and is currently enduring a barrage of treatments, including two powerful antibiotics, fentanyl, a urinary catheter and a feeding tube. He has to undergo ultrasounds and x-rays to check for fluids around his organs and any signs of pulmonary complication. He is very likely going to need dialysis in order to give his kidneys a chance to recover. This has all progressed very quickly, and the wonderful doctors at our local pet hospital are doing everything they can for him. However, due to the intensity of his treatment, the bills have exceeded his insurance coverage within three days. I will be selling off what I can to pay for his treatment, but I am currently a student and this is going to be very financially difficult. Any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you all.
