Support Return to Uganda with Action in Africa

I have received a spur of the moment opportunity to return to Uganda the last week of January, joining Action in Africa to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. This chance to work with them again, and for such an important milestone, has me bubbling over with excitement and joy!
As many of you know, I traveled to Uganda to photograph and work with Action in Africa in 2017 and 2018. AIA is a non-profit organization that strives to educate, inspire, and empower people in Uganda by providing sustained education, allowing individuals to reach their untapped potential and become the next leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in their country.
I brought my love of photography to the children at the center with Every Camera Counts, a program I developed with Action in Africa. Every Camera Counts was designed to add photography to the school’s curriculum, to teach children about documenting the fleeting moments in life. Most of the children I worked with had never used a camera, never had their picture taken, or had never seen themselves reflected in a photo. It was pure magic to experience these moments with them.
I have not been back to this part of the world for many years, and missing watching these amazing children learn and grow has weighed heavy on my heart. I had planned a trip in 2020, but we know what happened to all of our big plans that year! Since then, my career direction has changed a bit, and I returned to college to pursue another passion of helping animals. I have since earned a vet tech degree, and work full time for an equine and large animal veterinary practice.
While I continued to volunteer my photography services to Action in Africa’s stateside events, I have longed to be back on the ground in Uganda and at the center with the children and staff I have come to care for so deeply. Now that my degree is finished, I have more time to use my passion for photography to give back. This chance to visit the center in Uganda again could not have come at a better time!
As I get ready to venture abroad again after all these years, I would like to ask for your help and support in my efforts with returning to Uganda. The cost to ready myself for a trip like this can be great, including updating vaccines, travel documentation, etc. Making a donation is super easy! Any amount makes a big difference and is so appreciated.
The kids from Action in Africa warmed my heart and melted it. They showed me love, laughter and happiness like I have never experienced. I cannot wait to return to their smiles and see how their skills and personalities have grown!
