Support Return to Teach at Dalai Lama's Institute

Summer of '24, I had a very special and unique experience at the Dalai Lama's temple in North India. I walked into the school that was founded in 1973 by His Holiness to continue the highest education in Tibetan culture—the school of critical thinking invented by the highest ancient Greek philosophers and brought to Tibet by Indian scholars. The Institute of Buddhist Dialectics teaches debate in the traditional manner as the Dalai Lama himself was trained. I taught a special English class that drew on my bachelor's degree in Modern Languages (German and Spanish). I helped them with vocabulary, pronunciation, etymology, and usage of the English language; as they, in turn, brought me a close understanding of the political, cultural, and religious aspects of past and present Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism. We bonded in a special fraternity and had the opportunity to make several excursions together. We dined together in the monastery. We read, we discussed, we even debated. I can't wait to return and spend more time with these amazing and bright students and potentially new additional students in the late Spring and Summer of 2025.

This fundraiser will help me stay longer and make the expensive travel possible for my return to volunteer for the IBD.
