In July we rescued this sweet baby after she was dumped for “needing too much attention.” Retta is a 6 year old Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix with a big personality for such a small body. On Saturday, November 29th, she was attacked by another dog 5x her size. Miraculously, she survived and we were able to get her into an emergency vet. But being a holiday weekend, the vet responded as best as they could but were ultimately overworked and under resourced. All of Retta’s skin and muscles were ripped from her rib cage and she suffered a large bite on her back. While the vets were able to save her, it was an expensive operation and she has months of recovery and follow up treatments ahead of her.
Her chest may require additional surgeries and will require 2x per week visits to the vet for cleaning and treatment. She’s the best friend of our 14 year old Maltese and has a big part of our hearts.
Please help us keep this sweet, spunky girl alive and recovering!
