All we want for the holidays are resilient hubs and awesome thriving local and sustainable community spaces doing good work! Join us in support of two incredible efforts doing just this:
Alameda Maker Farm is an urban farm and DIY art space that also participates in a composting program, food drives, and sustainability education based in Alameda, CA.
CTC installs backup solar power for community resilience hubs at no cost, and also runs a volunteer farm in Vieques, Puerto Rico. They are engaged in many other resilience and disaster response projects, check out their website here:
Alameda Maker Farm and CTC need your help to raise $10k in *tax deductible donations* for the following if the fund raising goals are met:
Tier 1 - $2000 - program expenses including basic infrastructure improvements (In Alameda, Maker Farm is preparing for rain and cold. In Puerto Rico, CTC has to prepare for hurricane season each year)
Tier 2 - $4000 - Tier 1 + community resilience education/training program expenses. Including $900 for tools for Maker Farm's community bike shop.
Tier 3 - $8000 - Tier 1&2 + Expansion of community composting program expenses and animal expenses. Both farms receive compost from their local areas and are home to goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and sheep.
Tier 4 - $10,000 - ALL TIERS + Continuation of food security programs for people in need.
Alameda Maker Farm and Community Through Colors are in solidarity with aligned missions . They will be splitting the funds 50/50 and will be sharing information between the two organizations in support.
