It’s time to go to work!  Looking for volunteers to work on fence repair (tear down, level posts, cut pickets, painting, installing pickets and general grounds cleanup). First work day will be Saturday, June 7th at 8am and we plan to work on the tear down and general clean up.  If you are able to help this Saturday, bring a rake and shovel and let’s see what a difference we can make!  If there are special skills you can bring to the project please message me here and I’ll keep you posted as to future work dates.  Thank you so much for supporting the project financially, now we need volunteers to help with the work!

The LaPorte Beautification Committee is, quite simply, a small group of volunteers who have come together to provide fundraising and labor to improve landmarks in the historic town of LaPorte, CA. Situated in Plumas County, the town of LaPorte does not receive revenue for many of the maintenance projects that are necessary to preserve our historic landmarks. One such landmark is surrounded by a white picket fence (if you are familiar with LaPorte, you will know what we are talking about), that is in desperate need of repair. We don’t mean to be vague, but if we say the “C” word, all funds raised are required to be surrendered to the County. The fence in question is quite large and we estimate that it will need to be repaired in sections that may take up to three years to complete. It will require not only funds to buy the necessary materials but a team of volunteers to help with the project, which we hope to begin in the Spring 2025. We will also ask for volunteers to help clean brush and weeds from the area. Not a charity.
