My name is Ren and I am in 6th Grade at L.J. Alleman in Lafayette, LA.
This Fall, our school is taking a trip to Washington, D.C. I am excited to have the opportunity to go and learn about our Capital and history. Thank you for any help that you can provide for me to make this trip and please share this with your friends.
Our first stop on this four day trip will be the Smithsonian’s American History Museum. We will also tour Washington’s famous landmarks, including the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean & WWII Memorials.
Day two we will travel southwest to Charlottesville, VA to visit Monticello and get to know Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President! Lunch at Michie’s Tavern is a treat and a chance to experience dining that recreates 18th century tavern life. Another unique experience includes Carter’s Mountain Orchard for apple picking & a hayride!
Day three, we will visit the Thomas Jefferson, FDR & MLK Jr Memorials. Next, the U.S. Capital Building tour will enhance our knowledge of how our government works. The U.S. Holocaust Museum tour will give us a deep understanding of the events which occurred in WWII.
Our final day in Washington will include a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where we will witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns and JFK’s eternal flame.
Thank you again, I am very excited!
