Renessa is grieving the heartbreaking loss of her firstborn son, Koreem Ozier, whose life was tragically taken away on September 20, 2026. Affectionately known as the Golden Child, Koreem was a loving son, grandson, brother, family member, friend, mentor, and a devoted father to his only daughter, Kacey. She was his heart, his pride, and an important part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Koreem’s accomplishments began at Racine Case High School, where he established himself as one of the greatest basketball players in school and Racine County history. He became Case’s all-time leading scorer with 1,405 career points, led the state of Wisconsin in scoring for two consecutive years, and became the first player in Racine County history to average more than 30 points per game. He also earned Southeast Conference Player of the Year, multiple All-State honors, and All-Star Game MVP recognition.

After high school, Koreem continued developing academically and athletically at Scotland Campus Sports, where he was named Pacific Player of the Year. He then fulfilled his dream of playing NCAA Division I basketball at Sacred Heart University and the University of Louisiana Monroe. During his college career, he earned NEC All-Rookie and All-Conference honors, surpassed 1,000 career points, and competed in more than 100 Division I games.

Koreem’s journey did not end after college. His extraordinary talent, discipline, and determination allowed him to continue playing the game he loved professionally overseas in both China and Morocco. From Racine to the Division I stage and eventually across the world, he represented his family and hometown with pride while showing young athletes that their dreams could extend far beyond their surroundings.

But Koreem’s legacy cannot be measured by points, awards, or statistics alone. He returned home and used his experience to pour into the next generation, leading youth basketball camps and mentoring young athletes throughout the Racine community. He wanted young people to believe that their circumstances did not have to determine their future and that, through hard work and perseverance, their dreams were within reach.

Koreem was only 27 years old and had so much more life to live, love to give, and purpose to fulfill. His sudden passing has left his family facing overwhelming heartbreak, along with the unexpected financial responsibility of laying him to rest. There was no life insurance policy in place, and this fundraiser has been created to support Renessa as she faces the pain of losing her son and the immediate burden of funeral, burial, and related final expenses.
