My name is Stephen, and I run Cardio Dogs — a dog running & exercise service in Savannah, GA. Dogs aren't just my business. They're my life.
In Savannah's pet community, one name comes up over and over again: Renegade Paws Rescue. I'd heard it from clients, from locals, from fellow dog owners. I'd seen their team out at events, working the crowd, finding homes, showing up. So when I finally had the chance to tour their facility, I already knew they were doing something special. I just didn't know the full scale of it.
I left completely humbled.
Renegade Paws currently cares for nearly 500 dogs — between their shelter and an extensive foster network that they fully support. Every foster dog's food and medical bills are covered 100% by Renegade. No exceptions. These aren't people doing the bare minimum. They are working themselves to the bone every single day for animals that have nowhere else to go.
The dogs in their shelter right now — all 57 of them — are the lucky ones. They made it off the euthanasia list. But staying off it isn't free. Treating just a single dog with parvo can cost $3,000. Multiply that by the scale of what Renegade Paws takes on, and you start to understand the financial mountain they're climbing every single month.
After that tour I knew I had to do something. So I'm running.
May 14–17, 2026 — one long weekend — I'm running 57 miles through Savannah. One mile for every dog currently in their shelter.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Renegade Paws Rescue to cover veterinary care, shelter operations, and the cost of giving these dogs a real shot at life.
Here's how you can help:
Even a small donation makes a real difference. $10 buys a bag of food. $50 covers a vet visit. $3,000 saves a dog with parvo. Every single dollar moves the needle.
Can't donate right now? No problem — sharing this page is just as powerful. The more people who see this, the more dogs we can help.
And if you want to be part of the challenge itself — run, walk, bike, or take your own dog for a stroll. Log your miles, share them on social media, and tag #57for57 with a link to this page. Let's make this a Savannah-wide movement.
I'll be posting daily updates here throughout the weekend — photos, mile tracking, and everything in between. Follow along, cheer us on, and if you want to join me on the streets, follow @cardiodogssav on Instagram to see exactly where I'll be running each day.
The challenge wraps up Sunday, May 17 at 1pm at Service Brewery — come celebrate the finish and meet adoptable dogs from Renegade Paws who are ready for their forever home.
Let's run for the ones who can't run for themselves.
