Support Renee’s MCL and ACL Surgery Recovery

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

I'm reaching out for your help during a very challenging time in my life. For a little back story, I’ve come to passionately love skiing since moving to the Roaring Fork Valley and meeting Jeremy around winter 2021. Last winter on December 27th, 2023, I fell skiing with two good friends at snowmass and waited about a week or so to be seen. I was so freaked out about being genuinely injured, especially not living around a family unit, I refused to do anything more than an x-ray and was sent home declared to have a strained MCL on my right leg. I did a little of my own version of recovery for a while and was back skiing within a month I believe.

Through more exercise and repeated use for the next few months, I thought trying to be zip line guide would be a good and fun experience. Unfortunately, I partially tore the same MCL on June 7th of 2023 and was able to have workers comp. cover cost of a MRI, PT for about three months and quite a handful of doctors visits. I was trying to get back to regular life throughout the fall time, keeping up with my physical activities and adventuring as usual. I was even able to visit Oregon with Jeremy for the first time before coming back to Glenwood Springs to start a job at Sunlight Ski Resort. Fast forward to January 18th, skiing with some really good people and on the last lap I lost a ski and took another good tumble, the familiar burning pain sensation back in the same knee a little over a year later.

On April 5th, 2024, I underwent my first ever surgery to repair both my ACL and MCL, injuries that have significantly impacted my mobility and quality of life for the past year, putting me out of work for weeks. As many of you know, medical expenses can be overwhelming, and the costs associated with surgery, therapy, and rehabilitation add up quickly. Despite having insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses are substantial. This journey to recovery is not just about regaining my physical strength but also about reclaiming my independence and ability to pursue my passions. Any contribution, whether big or small, will make a tremendous difference in helping me cover these expenses and focus on my recovery without the burden of financial stress.
