Our dear friend Rene Rios suffered serious and life-changing injuries from a motorcycle accident last week, resulting in partial amputation with the potential for more. He faces a long road to recovery. Anyone who has spent time with Rene knows what a champion for social justice, civil rights, and labor unions he is, and how much he cares for and supports the people around him. After spending the last several years as the primary caregiver for his mother while simultaneously working the long hours this industry requires, Rene has struggled for full time employment alongside thousands of other skilled technicians during this downturn. His accident occurred during a lapse in healthcare coverage, placing him now in a perilous financial position.

We know people are suffering and it's a difficult time to ask for help while Hollywood recovers from dual strikes and a changing industry. Any effort, whether through your donations or shares, would be immensely appreciated. We are optimistic Rene can survive and thrive once he's through the other side, but at this moment, he needs our help. This fundraiser is being run by his camera department film family, a group of assistants who have worked closely alongside Rene for years. We know the working class of this industry looks out for one another, and we are using this fundraiser to show Rene that he is not alone. 100% of the funds will go directly to Rene for his hospitalization, medical bills, and ongoing recovery as he adjusts to his new life.
