Support Rena in her High Risk Pregnancy Journey

My name is Sara, and I am trying to find some way to support my best friend Rena and her husband Travis (and their beautiful baby Ollie and his unborn sibling) as they deal with a medical emergency so far from their home.

Rena is pregnant with their second child and is experiencing one of the worst nightmares a pregnant woman can face. Her water broke at 23 weeks - a medical emergency potentially threatening the life of mom and baby - and she was evacuated by air ambulance to a hospital in Vancouver, 6 hours away from her home, her husband and her young son.

She is now in hospital hoping to remain stable and continue carrying the pregnancy for as long as possible to give her baby its best chance at life. Her husband and son have relocated to Vancouver to be by her side, and the whole family will have to remain there for months to come even in the best case scenario so that Rena and her baby can have the medical care they need.

They have left behind their home, their pets, their jobs, and their support network. And will continue to be away from these things for months. This is putting an unexpected financial hardship on a family that should be solely trying to focus on surviving the next few months of this difficult journey.

As her friend, I am trying to find any way to help her and her family through this unexpected and extremely stressful circumstance. I want to give a space for Rena and Travis' friends and families to be able to share their support as well, as I know there will be others who want to find a way to help.

These funds will go directly to the family and be used to support their staying so far from home to receive medical care. Hotel and airbnb costs, travel costs incurred in the family travelling to Vancouver and back, loss of income - all these costs and more will be supported by any donations that come in.
