As many of you know, my cat Remy (aka Toni) is my soul cat. I adopted him in 2016 as a 26 year old who was new to Rhode Island and starting life over, and he has been by my side through everything since.

Today (Saturday) at 4pm I noticed that he was straining to pee in his box. I’ve seen this before, so I immediately took him to the ER who confirmed that he had a urinary blockage, which requires sedation, a catheter, and overnight care. His blockage removal went well, but we learned that the cause was stones, which need surgical removal to ensure he doesn’t reblock.

Our ER bill has already exceeded $3,000, and surgery is expected to be at least another $2,000. While this could always happen again, it’s also possible that it never happens again and he lives a very long and healthy life. I feel absolutely terrible asking for help, but sometimes you have to. I would be eternally grateful for absolutely any help.
