Update on Remy ❤️
Remy is at the vet today and we finally have answers. He broke his left carpus (front wrist). The best news: we were able to rule out amputation, and his growth plate is NOT involved, which is a huge blessing and helps lower the overall risk and cost.
We were really hoping to do the most cost-efficient option: an outer splint. The plan was for the vet to stretch his leg out, align the broken bones, bandage/splint it, and then we’d come back for follow-ups to make sure everything stayed lined up while it healed.
But after we agreed to try that option, the vet called and explained that because of the swelling, Remy’s muscles wouldn’t stretch enough to get his leg fully straight and the bones properly aligned — he needed about another inch. The vet did the best he could, but the leg just wasn’t cooperating. We could have taken it “as is,” but that would’ve meant a much higher chance of re-fracture, healing crooked, and Remy potentially not walking straight long-term.
So we made the hardest but safest decision and chose surgery with a metal plate to give Remy the best possible outcome.
Remy is staying in the hospital overnight, and they plan to operate tomorrow once the plate arrives. Even with all of this, he’s still acting like a happy puppy — trying to move around like nothing happened
We’re still looking at close to $4,000 for the procedure, so any support, shares, prayers, or donations mean more than I can explain. Thank you for caring about our baby and helping us save his leg.
Hi everyone,
I never thought I would be making a post like this, but we are desperately asking for help for our puppy, Remington (“Remy”).
Remy is only 4 ½ months old — just a baby. He’s our sweet mini Goldendoodle who is full of life, love, and energy. He loves to run, jump, chase birds, and play outside in our fenced backyard. He brings so much joy to our home every single day.
But in a matter of seconds, everything changed.
While Remy was outside playing, he suddenly started yelping/screaming in pain. When we got to him, he was limping badly, and his front paw/leg was completely limp. It looked like it had snapped. Seeing him like that was absolutely heartbreaking and terrifying. He was crying, and we knew something was seriously wrong.
We rushed him to the emergency vet immediately.
At the emergency vet, we were told he needs X-rays, medication, and surgery. The emergency visit alone is already over $1,400, and they told us he will 100% need surgery.
The vet said the exact surgery depends on what they find (it could be a growth plate injury, torn ligament, or fractured bone), but the estimated cost is around $3,000–$7,000+.
We were also told that amputation may be an option (around $1,000), but as of right now, we are trying with everything in us to save Remy’s leg. He is so young, and the thought of him losing his leg this early in life is devastating.
To make this even harder, Remy was born with a joint issue that may already cause walking problems as he gets older. That is why we are fighting so hard to save his leg now — we want to give him the best chance at a healthy life and prevent even more pain and mobility issues in the future if possible.
The vet told us we need to make decisions quickly, within 48 hours, to reduce the risk of complications/infection and give him the best possible outcome.
This was a completely unexpected emergency. We have been calling vets, resources, and financial assistance programs nonstop, trying to find help. Unfortunately, there are very few options, many require approval, and most places still require payment upfront.
We are humbly asking for help because we cannot do this alone.
If you can help in any way, we would be beyond grateful:
• Donate (even a small amount helps)
• Pray for Remy
He is just a baby. He should be running, playing, and living life — not hurting like this.
Please help us give Remy a chance to keep his leg and heal. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, praying, and supporting our sweet boy.
❤️ With love and gratitude,
