Hi everyone, my name is Remi. My fiancé John and I just made a big move from San Francisco to Independence, CA to begin a new chapter of our lives together. We were told the house we were moving into would only need minor fixes, and we were excited and hopeful about making it our home.

Unfortunately, things have not gone as expected.

When we arrived, our movers told us there was no space in the house for our belongings. We quickly realized the home was still full of items, and we had to spend hours just clearing enough room for our furniture and boxes. Since then, we’ve been working non-stop to clean and remove what’s been left behind — but it’s an overwhelming job and far more than we were prepared for.

On top of that, we’ve recently been hit with the news that the house needs major repairs just to be livable:

• A brand new water heater

• A new propane tank

• Complete plumbing repairs

• A functioning cooling system (the heat here is intense!)

• And the entire interior of the house needs to be repainted

This has put us in a very tough position financially and emotionally. We had no idea the home would need this much work, and we are doing everything we can to make it safe and comfortable. But we can’t do it alone.

We’re asking for your help to cover the most urgent repairs and basic necessities to make this house a true home. Anything you can give — no matter how small — will go directly toward fixing what’s broken and helping us get settled.
