Rekha Sharma Chaudhary, a resilient single mother, a hard-working entrepreneur and a kindhearted social worker, recently faced an unexpected twist during work at Resu Food Udyog late September 2023. During her regular work day, an unforeseen turn of events led her to the Emergency Room in Kathmandu, Nepal where medical professionals identified a substantial tumor on her lungs, equivalent to the size of a golf ball. Early October 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 3A Lung Cancer, with multiple cores affected in the lung parenchyma spreading to infiltrating glands, cords and nests around her lungs.

Rekha is a loving single mother to three young daughters both of them currently undergoing undergraduate college and a vibrant son currently a Senior in high school. Already facing numerous challenges single handedly raising her family, she along with her entire family are also deeply involved in local social service activities, and community initiatives. She has chosen her abilities to help and train more than 7,000 women across Nepal become self-sufficient by teaching them the trade to make pickles and similar food products.

Rekha is a strong woman and just like her numerous challenges throughout her life, she is ready to fight her biggest battle! She underwent an initial surgery to remove the tumor in December 2023. She is currently undergoing a series of chemotherapy and radiation therapy and the mounting medication costs for her treatment are exhausting all financial resources with the endless stream of bills and payments required now and well into the future.

As she and her family navigate this lengthy and challenging journey ahead, the family could use all the prayers, support and positive energy they can get from this amazing online community of family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.
