As many of you know, Reddie fell on June 12, 2025, resulting in 4 fractures in her neck and 3 fractures in her spine. She had to undergo 2 emergency surgeries on June 13th and June 14th. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of a long road to recovery.
She is currently in an acute inpatient rehab that specializes in spinal cord injuries, where she is receiving hours of therapy a day. Even with all of this, she remains paralyzed and unable to walk again, along with many other health issues that have resulted from her injury.
We are hopeful that she will be able to discharge home this week; however, even that is going to be an adjustment for her as she can’t return to the home with her granddaughter, grandson-in-law, and grandchildren due to the level of care she now requires. Along with such high-level care needs, she is going to need multiple high-cost pieces of medical equipment, including a specialized wheelchair for patients with spinal cord injuries, a hospital bed, a lift to get her in and out of bed, a ramp to be installed to get her in and out of the home, and many other items.
Once home, she will have a tremendous amount of doctor’s appointments and more procedures to try to assist her in any way to achieve the best quality of life while accommodating so many changes and adjustments.
With all of this being said, we are asking for any help you can provide! We know times are tough for everyone, but anything will help. Between the medical bills from her hospitalizations, surgeries, upcoming appointments, more procedures, and the accommodations that have to be put in place for her to come home, it is above all of our means. Thank you so much!!
