Support Recovery for Storm-Affected Families
Donation protected
Friends in the Houston area,
We all know firsthand the destruction a hurricane can bring, and many of us have gained hard-earned experience in cleaning up after severe flooding. With that in mind, I’ll be driving to the Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina areas to offer assistance to those affected by the recent storms.
I’ll be pulling a trailer behind my truck and aim to load it with as many supplies as possible. I’m looking back on Harvey and thinking of things people desperately needed (water, diapers, baby formula, box fans, trash bags, masks, gloves, cleaning supplies).
Any funds donated that aren’t spent directly on supplies will go toward purchasing gift cards from hardware and grocery stores in the impacted areas.
Having helped friends and family during Harvey, I remember countless trips to Lowe’s or Home Depot, where even a single visit could easily cost $100. These funds can go a long way in helping families get back on their feet.
Thank you for your support!
Update for Gofundme Admins: All funds donated have been utilized to purchase critical need items like water, baby formula, shovels, diapers, brooms, baby wipes, fans, blankets, and cleaning supplies. These purchases were made in advance of transfers from gofundme. Three large shopping trips were made. One trip to costco in Houston prior to departure where 3 pallets of bottled water were purchased, 22,500 baby wipes, over 4000 diapers, 60 cans of lysol wipes, and 30 cans of baby formula. Over 9,000lbs of critical supplies were loaded and driven to North Carolina and donated in the towns of Canton & Cyde. After the first offload, another trip was to Walmart in Waynesville, NC to load up on blankets and one to Home depot just north of Atlanta to load up on shovels, contractor trash bags, brooms, buckets, box fans, extension cords, etc. On the ground we teamed up with the Clyde Fire Department who were operating out of the Methodist Church Parking lot just up the hill from the flooded Station. Remaining funds were given to victims severely impacted by the flash flooding event in the form of cash and gift cards.
My relation to the area impacted is they are people who need help. I have experience cleaning up after severe flooding and was able to to take the time to go help for a week. See photos from the trip posted in the updates.
For full transparency I will be in charge of withdrawing funds to my personal account.
The process to identify need and individuals is direct observation. We had identified the Clyde North Carolina volunteer fire department, the Clyde Methodist church serving over 300 meals a day to flood victims and then driving around speaking directly to flood victims. The need is so great for these people my goal was get supplies in their hands ASAP without lengthy applications. People living in tents in their front yards because their homes were flooded don't need to submit applications for basic necessities.
