Support recovery for Mahmoud Mahmoud

This is a difficult story of my amazing student, Mahmoud Mahmoud, who recently experienced a life-altering car accident. On May 14th, Mahmoud was a passenger in a car when he was involved in a severe collision. The impact left him with significant injuries to his hips, pelvis, femur, and teeth.

Anyone who knows Mahmoud, knows he is incredibly bright, hardworking, compassionate and an all-around friendly and positive individual. He has always gone out of his way to help others. He is a senior at Madison East High School, where he's received multiple academic scholarships and has plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in fall, 2024.

Mahmoud's road to recovery will be long and demanding. He cites the physical and emotional struggles he has gone through, and will continue to experience. He went through a major surgery to repair the damage to his hips and pelvis and will require extensive physical and occupational therapy to regain his mobility. He will need to relearn how to move and walk again, which requires rehabilitation, relocation to various places, and necessary medical equipment. This is incredibly overwhelming. He and his family are faced with significant financial strain, and the start of his college journey will be hindered.
