On April 5, 2025 I ended up in the ER with a perforated colon. I required emergency surgery which requires me to have a temporary colostomy. I have been off work since then and do not return to work until June 1st. At that time I will only return to work for a couple of weeks before needing to be off work for another 4-6 weeks.

I have short term disability that only pays 50% of what I would typically make. As a Reserve Flight Attendant I already don’t make much to begin with. My disability claim is still being reviewed and so far I have only been paid $21. When returning to work I am going to have all of my insurance premiums to catch up and I have incurred significant medical bills.

I hate asking for help but at this point I do not know what else to do. Once I return to work it will take at least one month of pay just to catch up on insurance premiums and union dues.

Any help is much appreciated so that I can just focus on making a complete recovery and not be stressed out financially.
