Support Recovery and Medical Bills for a Survivor

Hi and thank you for visiting my page. For the ones who do not know me, I'm a very vibrant and strong willed individual. I have survived many challenges in life such as domestic violence, homelessness and drug abuse. Finally tired of living that lifestyle, I made a life change in November of 2023 and started a new life sober. I immediately found a job and was staying with my mother. Since I was now part of a household, my income went to assisting my mother and grandmother in bills. Things were moving along fairly smooth until one day I woke up unable to walk.

In late April, I woke up one morning with discomfort in my knee. Thinking it was old age, I immediately laughed it off until I was no longer able to bend my knee.. that evening I went to the local hospital and was told I was having severe muscle spasms. I was given a muscle relaxer and a note to be out of work for 5 days. I was not expecting that those 5 days were going to put my leg and life in danger.

As I followed doctors orders, I noticed the pain getting worse and by day 4 my right leg was completely paralyzed. The paramedics were called and I was sent to a remote medcentral station for testing. After about 10 hours of tests they finally discovered bacteria in my knee. They were not sure what kind but it was life threatening and I was scheduled to have surgery within 24 hours otherwise I may loose my leg or possibly my life. After being admitted to Wesley Long hospital and pulling through the operation I stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. Due to the bacteria, I had to learn how to walk again. It took me 6 weeks to gain that ability but I still needed assistance on occasion. By mid June, my strength was improving and I was released to go back to work on light duty however things took an unexpected turn again.

Due to the bacteria (myrsa) in my knee, I lost alot of bone when that happens you can experience bursitis which does not have a cute, it eventually corrects itself overtime. The bursitis hit me the week i started working and ultimately I had to take another medical leave because I was physically not able to serve guest at Longhorn. I was devastated and heartbroken once again.

As I started the application process for government assistance, I noticed things were getting worse with my leg and on July 1st, I had another emergency surgery to eliminate the myrsa that now was attacking my bone marrow. Currently I'm at Wesley Long hospital where I will be for several weeks to receive treatment. On July 17th I was informed that the treatments were no longer working and that I only had a 10% chance of living unless I amputatedmy leg so at 9am on Saturday July 20th, I had my leg amputated from the knee down.

Since I have not worked in 3 months and still waiting to hear back from my social worker on what government programs I qualify, I still have bills that I need assistance with and prescriptions I'll need to buy. I'll also have co-pays, pay for transportation, etc. The funds I'm raising are to help me get caught up on bills and to assist in medical expenses. Any and all contributions are welcome and appreciated. Once again thank you for your time and support. I wish you the best!
