Support Recovery and Housing Stability Post-Accident
Donation protected
June 18th.. I am home and have been home now for almost a week navigating home life with a walker and extra Medical equipment has been difficult but I'm able to do it so we're good there. I'm still a ways away from the goal and I still could use your help sharing so please continue to share this as much as you think you can and again prayers are appreciated if you are not able to donate at this time. I'm working on getting my mortgage company to put me into forbearance and put a few payments off and take them off and put them at the end of the loan so that will help if they do if not I have paid a payment and so I'm caught up for right this second but obviously I'm still not going to be able to work for the next few months
I was recently involved in a really terrible car accident on Monday, June 2nd. My car was totaled, and I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and then transferred to Indianapolis to the trauma center. I have a broken back, which I have received surgery for to stabilize the broken vertebrae and bones.
I'm going to be off work for anywhere from 8 weeks to 12 weeks or possibly longer. I have to be non-weight-bearing on my left leg because that's the side that they went in through the hip bone to place the stabilizing screw straight through my hip, pelvis, sacrum, and out the other side.
I don't currently have medical insurance because I just started a new job on May 12th, so I didn't even qualify to get insurance from my new job yet. My car insurance only covers if I caused the wreck and hurt somebody else, so I don't think my insurance is going to be real interested in doing anything medically for me. They're going to have to get it from the other driver's insurance. The accident was deemed the other person's fault for failure to yield the right of way.
After my medical has been taken care of and I'm released and allowed to start doing normal activities again, then the insurance company will start offering settlements, but they can't do anything for me until I'm released medically, and that will be at least 8 to 12 weeks.
I just need help. I'm not going to be able to pay my mortgage or my utility bills. I don't even care about anything extra, but my mortgage—I cannot lose my home. I worked so hard to get that home and provide a home for myself, my mother, my daughter, and my grandson. I can't lose it now.
I'm not worried about my car; my insurance has totaled it out, so that's all taken care of. My main concern now is getting enough money to pay my mortgage and the utility bills that are coming in that I'm responsible for because my mother and my daughter are already paying out every penny they can for bills, and they just don't have enough to cover that part.
So if you can find it within your heart to donate, please donate, and I promise you, anybody that knows me knows that I will pay it forward or I will pay it back when I get my insurance settlement. However, it's just right now, I don't know what else to do. No amount is too small, and if you can't donate, prayers would be appreciated as well.
The police officer and the medics told me if he would have hit me one foot further back, I wouldn't be here today, so I'm just thankful to be alive. It's going to be a long road to recovery, so if you can find it in your heart to help, please do.
