Support Rebekka Juveland's Fight Against Brain Cancer

Rebekka Juveland is a superstar. Dedicated to helping others, she’s spent her entire career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse, working mostly in home health visits, geriatrics, and hospice. She’s one of our Healthcare Superheroes who got up and went into work every day during the pandemic, despite the risk and despite the stress and despite the drain, because people were suffering and she could help. Now Bekka needs help. Just one month ago, Bekka suddenly lost over half her field of vision. Fearing a stroke, she was taken to the ER, only for an MRI to find a mass growing in the lower back portion of her brain, right in the ocular center. A biopsy surgery was done the very next day, and while battling the intense pain and nausea as a result of brain surgery, Bekka received the devastating news: Stage IV Glioblastoma with a rapid growth rate.

Bekka is a fighter. She’s young and adventurous and has an amazing heart. She’d never tell you she’s in pain and you wouldn’t know until she collapsed, because she doesn’t give up and she doesn’t quit. This diagnosis has already required and will continue to require long hospital stays, surgeries, and 24-hour care while at home. With a severely reduced field of vision, any trip and fall over something she cannot see, hitting her head while falling, could be a death sentence. She needs constant in-home care to keep things out of her path, to make sure she’s able to move about, to assist her during periods of weakness, nausea, and dizzy spells, and to modify some old routines and teach some entirely new ones for this sudden new reality. She can no longer drive and must take a leave of absence from work. Her family and friends have used their available time off and continue to help in every way possible, but we need more help. Insurance doesn’t cover everything, and we all know that while nurses should be paid their weight in gold, they’re often paid barely enough to live on–if that.

If you are able and willing, please consider donating today. Donations go to Bekka’s medical care, including portions of surgeries, hospital stays, and medication not covered by insurance, transportation to and from appointments since she can no longer drive, and home care to include preparing her meals and assisting her with everyday tasks she can no longer do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
