We are reaching out with full hearts on behalf of a beloved friend and fellow advocate in our airway world — Rebekah St. James. For over 20 years, Rebekah has battled a relentless and rare disease: idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS) — a condition that causes the airway just below the vocal cords to become dangerously narrow without known cause.

This is not just about discomfort — it’s a fight to breathe.

Rebekah has endured 56 surgeries... yes, 56 surgeries to remove scar and inflammatory tissue from her airway. What started as a surgery every 6 months has now progressed into an urgent, life-threatening reality. Her airway closes nearly 90% in just two months. Without frequent surgical intervention, she cannot breathe.

Imagine sleeping upright every night — not by choice, but as a necessity to stay alive. Imagine knowing your insurance company won’t fully support the frequency of surgeries you now desperately require, leaving you with crushing co-pays every time your airway must be reopened.
