My name is Aron Schrepfer, and I have the privilege of pastoring Pioneer Peak Baptist Church in Butte, Alaska. My wife Rebekah and I have called this community home for the past 11 years, raising our four wonderful children-Matthew (18), Katie (16), Nataly (15), and Sara (14). I grew up here in the valley, and it’s been a blessing to share this beautiful place with my family. In addition to my church responsibilities, I also direct Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp and serve as chairman of its board. As a family, we love exploring Alaska’s outdoors together-whether it’s hiking to glaciers, hunting, fishing, or simply spending time in nature.
Rebekah, originally from Colorado, has always poured her heart into her family and community. She majored in piano and minored in voice in college, and over the years, we’ve served in churches across Iowa, Kansas City, Montana, and Alaska. Rebekah has homeschooled our children from preschool through graduation, giving them a strong foundation for their futures. She’s also an avid quilter, creating and restoring quilts for others, and recently began working at Body in Balance, where she enjoys being part of a wonderful team.
On May 1st, our world was turned upside down. After a abdominal CT scan, doctors told us they strongly suspected Rebekah had advanced ovarian cancer, which has since been confirmed and found to have spread to her chest. She has already undergone several procedures to drain fluid from her abdomen and will soon begin an aggressive treatment plan: three rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, and then more chemotherapy. The road ahead will be difficult, with many medical appointments, procedures, and time away from work.
Despite these challenges, we know God is always good.
Romans 8:18 has been a source of comfort: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
We are reaching out for your prayers, encouragement, and support as we face this journey together. Any help you can give toward Rebekah’s medical expenses and care needs would mean so much to our family. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult season.
