On Christmas Day, my 7-year-old niece, Cora, was admitted to Golisano Children’s Hospital for the first time. On New Year’s Eve, they confirmed that she has B-cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. We are incredibly thankful that her prognosis is favorable, but Cora has a long road ahead of her with treatments.
Cora’s oncologist team was prompt in starting treatment and has a long treatment plan laid out for her. If all goes according to plan, active treatment will take 2 years, if not longer.
Due to treatment, Cora’s immune system is compromised. Cora is unable to be in school or any childcare system. Rebekah is a single mom and Cora’s only caregiver.
After Cora’s diagnosis, Rebekah was unable to work as she needed to be present to provide care for Cora. She was employed through a small organization and she is not eligible for any paid family leave.
I’m setting this up so we can rally around Rebekah and her children to provide both financial and prayer support. Any amount, small or large, will help Rebekah, Cora and her teenage son Braeden, keep afloat as she will likely be out of work for at least another 8 months.
If you are unable to contribute financially, above all, we ask for prayers for Cora’s health and peace and endurance for Rebekah as they walk this hard path.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
