Hi there, my name is Rebecca and I'm an indie author, an artist, a wife, and a stay-at-home parent to our three young boys. I am 33 years old and have never been to college, but I enrolled for the fall semester this year (I'll be getting my BA in Social Work to start, I'm very excited!) and then promptly found out I needed to have heart surgery in the beginning of June.
I have a congenital heart condition that predisposed me to getting aortic stenosis, which has now progressed to the point where I need to have open-heart surgery in order to replace my aortic valve and part of my ascending aorta due to an aneurysm.
The recovery process is about 6-8 weeks, and I will need to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. I have been assured that being in my early 30s and relatively healthy otherwise, my surgery and recovery should go very well, but it is going to put a financial and emotional strain on our family.
I hate asking for help, let alone money. But I have decided to set up this GoFundMe so that if anyone feels compelled to help out in any small way, they can.
I have no idea how much this surgery will cost, how much our insurance will pay, and what other expenses we will have along the way with my husband needing to miss some work and helping to fly up family to come and help with the kids while I am on restrictions. I will not be able to drive for a month or lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for even longer. So, this is quite a big thing we are about to embark on.
I plan to vlog this experience on YouTube if you would like to follow my channel and hear updates there. I will also try and update on here as things happen. I have never used this platform before, but I will figure it out.

If you feel like helping out, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for reading this. If you could give it a share, that in and of itself is a help too.
